I have a knack for learning languages and I love travelling. I would like to challenge myself as I already speak 3 languages. I think that learning languages would help me get the most out of visiting other countries and cultures, and would make for a more in depth tourist experience than being handicapped by only speaking my native language and a token smattering of words from another language.
I used to have an abiding fear of deep water. Thankfully, I no longer have that and am a lot more comfortable in water and especially in open water now. However, I still haven't learned to breathe while swimming and I think that living on an island, it is important for me to learn how to swim if only for water safety and to enable me to feel more confident with other watersports. If I learn to swim properly, I think it will help my fitness level and also open up options for me to participate in other water-based activities.
I have trained in one profession (architecture) that I don't believe is necessarily the best fit for me. While no education is wasted, I would prefer to be doing something that I enjoy, that has meaning and offers real social value, as well as a healthy work-life balance, which sadly, the architecture career does not seem to offer.
I have many talents, and while all of them do not necessarily need to be used at the same time in one career, I would prefer to be involved in making something of value, with some artistry involved, which helps people and offers the chance to work either for myself as a contracted consultant or else on a flexi-time/ part-time basis so that a family life is possible should I wish to have one. A career that allows me to support myself and any family that may come along comfortably would also be nice.
