Inspiration

Launched my new website Paratinovia.com

Why were you inspired to do this?

Much of my young twenty something life had been spent trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. Fortuntately or unfortunately, I was already sort of grown and yet nothing spoke to me. Until I was driving in my car and talking to my good friend about my latest list of different ideas I was tossing around. Most of the ideas were fashion and style related or even travel oriented. You see I am a big idea person. Then in a flash, something came to me, why not a Latina wedding website. But, wait where did that come from? I wasn’t even married, in fact, I was no where close to being married. But, then the idea didn’t go away. You see, I am Latina. And, as a Latina, I saw that there is little to no content being developed for the Latina market. It is a different market, one that general audience marketing companies have for years failed to adequately understand simply because it is so diverse. And, yet at 46 million and counting the Latino population in the U.S. is the single largest group or minority, so as a group Latinos are impossible to ignore. Now, for the biggest shocker, there was no website out there for Latina Weddings! Wait, what? Unbelievable I thought. Could this be? Ok, wait a second, I could believe it! In my life, as in many peoples, I believe that we get amazing opportunities. Some people call it luck. But, really it is about timing for me. I had to be patient enough to wait for the perfect project (Paratinovia.com) to come along and open enough to the idea to pursue it. For me, it was the absolute right time. I had been searching for that special project that only I could do. Something that would be perfectly suited to my background as a Latina, working in internet, looking for a project that fulfilled a deep seated desire to do something in a collaborative space rather than a competitive space. Weddings was just the ticket. The community is so collaborative because so many people must come together seamlessly to create a beautiful and loving space for a couple on their special day.

What were 3 things you did to make this happen?

1. Wrote the Business Plan: I knew it was not as simple as just putting some thoughts on paper. It took me a month of initial research and one month of writing the business plan non-stop. I still add to the business plan each day-modifying it as new information comes to light.

2. Raised the Capital: Now, for the tricky part. Finding the right person who came along at the right time to make it happen. I found my investor-quickly. But, it was really that I found a person who shared my vision for Paratinovia.com.

3. Built the Site & Adore Watching It Grow: Now, to help get people to see http://www.Paratinovia.com, I had to put the word out. Of course, the first few weeks, we did just word of mouth so that we had ample time to correct for any mistakes on the site before wide release. Now, between pr, advertising and word of mouth, the site is really gaining momentum!

How did you feel once you had accomplished this?

For me the question became, what I have learned as I build my business? Business is about connecting with those people who share your vision. Often, if you are ahead of the pack, as an entrepreneur, it is about planting the seed and giving people time to let the idea grow in their minds. Remember, visionaries often see the value of something before the pack. You then have to show people what you see. For my team, it has been much the same way, each day we plant a few more seeds and watch the business blossom. Check out my business, I would love to hear your input: www.Paratinovia.com.
