Taking the family to Hawaii was an incredible experience! We were lucky enough to have my own family and my sister and her husband and my parents join us as well. We rented a wonderful beachhouse on the North Shore and we did a lot of sightseeing and activities, including whalewatching, a luau, kayaking, hiking and swimming and much more.
The trip was made more memorable because we were there when the earthquake in Japan happened and we had to evacuate our rental house due to the tsunami. We spent the night in the car in the Dole Plantation parking lot. It was a little scary at the time but we were very fortunate that little damage was done and we were able to get back into the rental house the next morning.
We all were very bummed to have to leave and we are hoping that we can go back some day soon. It was especially difficult coming back to the wonderful Minnesota winter!
