Study Abroad
Travel & Leisure: Europe

Why do you want to do this?

This is one of the great opportunities that comes with going to a university. Being immersed in a new culture while you study something, in a hands-on way, is n amazing test of your interest in a specific field. Its also fits into my dreams of traveling the world. At first I thought that going on a study abroad would be a waste of money and time (there aren't study abroad's for Interior Design), but now that I have a new focus (Anthropology) and need to spend time in field schools and the like it makes all the sense in the world to participate in one. MSU has an extroadinary amount of study abroad programs and I am lucky enough to have found one that's focus falls so near my interests. It is called Art and Archaeology in Greece.

What three things will you need to make this happen?

Apply for loans to cover expenses and tuition.

Buy a backpacking backpack for the trip (35-40 liters). Pack it several times to make sure that it is light enough for travel.

Get everything in order. Insurance, plane tickets, etc.

What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?

There are no barrier's at this point. I am accepted into the program and have bought my plane tickets. All I need to do now is ensure that I have enough money and prepare for the trip.

I've bought my plane tickets to and from Europe.  I am flying from New York City to Athens, Greece on my way there and from Rome, Italy to Chicago on my way back.  Still on my list of purchases that I need to make is the plane ticket from Athens to Rome, the plane ticket to and from Florence, and the train ticket back from Chicago.

All of these expenses are worth it because there is nothing I want more out of my life than being able to have experiences like this.  To see the world is to find youself, or something like that.
