Why do you want to do this?
I love the game of racquetball. I learned how to play while attending Penn State Univ. I started playing again in 1996 - 2009. I recently had to step off the court for health reasons. Getting back on the court would give me a great sense of accomplishment. Nothing like the adrenalin I have when I am competing on the court.
What three things will you need to make this happen?
I must recondition my body and build up my endurance. I have started this process by doing Plyometrics training.
Time to play. Right now my schedule is pretty full. I just need to commit to going to the gym a couple times per week and putting in some court time. I am able to do most of my buildup training at home.
Courage. Because of my illness, there is a little fear that playing may cause me harm. My doctor has assured me that playing could actually help my condition as long as I don't over do it. My competitive spirit is in direct opposition to "not overdooing it".
What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?
Fear of not being able to. Fear of heart failure on the court. Fear of "overdoing it". Fear of a compromised, subpar game.
