Sports & Adventure: Fitness
Why do you want to do this?
I am slowly working my way on becoming a dancer. I will be applying to the Ailey School's Independent Study in a year and a half and need to drastically increase my flexibility. With a little warm-up and stretching I can get into my right and left splits, but I am far off from my middle splits. Anyhow, I need to become dancer-flexible! And that means a lot of work.
What three things will you need to make this happen?
Stretch twice a day (a light stretch in the morning and a rigorous stretch after showering at night) according to my stretching routine that includes stretches for my back and hamstrings
Stretch before and after each dance class I take for at least 5-6 minutes, making sure to do the splits (1 minute each) after each class
What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?
I get lazy and believe that all this work will not lead me to be really flexible. It's mostly my mind - and all of the work (career/job) that I have to do that stresses me out and takes time away from this.
