Walk Happy at least 5 days a week.
Relationships: Pets

Why do you want to do this?

I would like to spend more time with the dog doing something that is fun for both of us. It would help him be more comfortable, happy, and stable and it will benefit my health to walk for about an hour everyday. I want him to know I love him.

What three things will you need to make this happen?

Discipline. Sticktoittivness.

A schedule for walking the dog.

Accountability.

What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?

Sloth. I have the time. The dog is healthy. The weather is not unbearable for a short walk in the park 90% of the time. There are plenty of leashes.

Hi Pixie! I think a lot about this goal, because I have an unruly beast that I adore. She was never good on a leash but she's 14 now and far more tame than I'd like. In fact, she does a whole lot of sleeping. I waffle about whether to put her through a walking routine because her hips do cause her some trouble but at the same time, I know exercise can limber her up and will give her more energy.

Riley isn't going to last much longer -- my best friend doesn't owe me another minute. But I think making time and getting out will help me enjoy the time we have, and to feel peace in knowing that she got every good moment she could get. Thanks for the good idea. I hope you get out and enjoy some time with your pup!

How's this goal going, Pixie? Are you finding time to build a walking habit? I have to say, I haven't made any progress. The day I was going to start, we got two feet of snow and I'm afraid to drag the beast out where she could slip. Hopefully you live somewhere the weather won't keep you from making it happen!
