I'm one step closer to making it happen.  I finished the registration and all I have to do is get with my employer who is going to take care of my down-payment.  I am so blessed to be surrounded by people who support me.

My employer paid for my registration fee on friday.  I am terrified really.  The first class is on February 19th.  But I am proud of myself for taking the step and grateful that my employer has decided to invest in me like this.  I told him thank you and that he had no idea how this was going to change my life.  He told me that I had done so much for them.  That was really neat. . . knowing that it wasn't merely a charitable donation made out of pity, but an investment made out of appreciation.  I know someday I will be able to do something similar for someone else.

I am a teacher.  Let me know if you have any questions about the process. I will be happy to help.  I went to school when my kids were very small.  I know that it can be a rough road, but you can do it.  I am here to help.

Great to go back to school, it really focuses the mind. And going back makes you look at your schooling differently. You feel so glad to be doing it, where the first time around it felt like such a boring chore. Your perspective is wonderful. Best of luck on your first day! Be sure to come back and post when it's over. We'll be waiting to hear all about it.

My first teaching seminar was awesome.  It made me realize that teaching is definitely one of my life-paths.  I got excited about the prospect of interacting with middle school aged kids--which was always the one group I didn't think I would enjoy.  I always knew that I wanted to be a "Mother to the Motherless."  What I didn't realize was that being a teacher fulfills that role in a way that is more powerful than so many other options.  Teachers have the opportunity to motivate and inspire kids in a way that noone else does.  I just pray that God will instill in me a supernatural love for other children.  Loving our own and seeing the best in them is natural.  But sometimes it's hard to have a genuine interest in children that are not our own.  It's hard to look beyond their bad behavior and see the potential that needs to be drawn out.  But that is the key to being a teacher:  Seeing the potential and turning it into outward behavior.  I'm stoked.
