1/12/2011 2:01:40 AM

Hey Bill, all good looking forward to it!

Today's effort! Diet good, exercise bad. But diet good :)

1/13/2011 1:30:04 AM

Update. Good diet today and 7.11km (4.2miles) walk. Weigh in tomorrow.

1/14/2011 3:23:28 AM

After a week of effort and work, today just didn't quite make it to work-out. Oh well rest up and push hard on the weekend.

1/15/2011 3:18:49 PM

Saturday morning walk around Sydney botanical gardens, Opera House and harbor. Very good. Healthy breakfast, not so healthy dinner.

1/16/2011 4:07:43 AM

Sunday: Great day, 2 workouts and healthy food, plus i did a weigh in and I was 94.1kg (207lbs). Hopefully this week I'll eat even better and get more work-outs in.

1/16/2011 7:30:28 PM

I can't believe you are doing twice-daily workouts. That's a phenomenal commitment! You must be making great strides, I'm so impressed with that. Keep at it and I'll be looking forward to your next update! Your motivation is keeping a lot of other people in motion, so keep it up.

1/17/2011 6:18:24 AM

Double workouts daily is tough going. I'm very tired today so no workout. Diet good which is important. thanks for the comment Shea :)

1/17/2011 8:27:44 AM

It's alright to take a break, Greggy. Don't forget, the purpose of the challenge isn't to lose the weight, it's to set new habits so that you can sustain the behavior. If you deprive yourself or exhaust yourself, come the end of the month you're not going to want to stick to it at all! Then all that work will have been for nothing. Small, sustainable changes to behavior. Then everything you achieve will be part of your real life and no more blowing up and yo-yoing. You're smart to listen to your body when you're tired. Balance!!

1/18/2011 4:22:06 AM

Yes excellent advice! Was great to listen to my body and take a rest as I felt so much better today. Another great day with the diet and I walked 7km this evening around the Sydney waterfront, botanical gardens and Opera house. If anyone is ever in Sydney, this walk is very motivating.

1/18/2011 7:41:54 AM

Hey Greg, That walk is fantastic. If you are up for it. The Manly Spit walk is a great challenge. It was one of my favorite's while I lived there. About two hours Round trip if you pump it. Lets try and catch up by phone tonight.

1/19/2011 3:54:29 AM

Another great day. Good diet and another walk. 7km again. Here's my fitness reports for the last few months, you can see the progress http://runkeeper.com/user/greggy/fitnessReports

Bronte - Bondi a good one too. Haven't completed the Manly Spit walk before so will try and give it a nudge.

1/20/2011 4:13:20 AM

Today's diet was good even though I was pretty hungry so had to get some pasta at lunch. A rest on the exercise today, mostly due to the amount of work I had to get through for Karactaz

1/20/2011 5:27:32 AM

Hey Greggy, You are totally doing great mate. Keep it up. We are going to make an announcement next week that will make you smile. Got your email. Yes lets chat tonight on Skype.

1/21/2011 4:19:00 AM

After a very busy week, i still managed to the Sydney botanical garden, Opera house walk again. Another 7km and on a Friday evening. Looking forward to double workouts on the weekend and a weigh in.

1/21/2011 4:44:30 AM

Yes it was a great walk! Will try and keep you motivated over the next 10 days :)

1/21/2011 11:52:57 PM

Just completed my fastest time for my Sydney botanical garden/opera house walk/jog. 1 hr 4mins for 7km. Have to increase the distance now for the next 10 days as my body is conditioned to this routine.

1/22/2011 12:39:28 AM

WOW fastest run and without me? I guess it was about less talking and more running :) well done, keep going

1/23/2011 3:18:19 AM

So in the last week I managed to do 35km walking and 14km cycling. Pretty happy with that, it's my best week in terms of walking for many months. You can see my fitness reports here. http://runkeeper.com/user/greggy/fitnessReports. Looking forward to a big week of fitness and business. Plus we have Australia day thrown in there mid week and my birthday at the end of the week.

1/23/2011 4:58:14 AM

Greggy, I really admire you :) just keep going strong, I am sure you can make it

1/23/2011 10:21:57 PM

Greggy, Congratulations on the progress you have made with your goal!  You are doing awesome!  It is so motivating to read how commited you have been.  Keep up the great work.  And thank you so much for your support and encouragement on my goal.  Do you have any diet tips for my next 21-day challenge?  Thanks again!  Looking forward to following your progress.

1/24/2011 3:42:21 AM

Again, well done, sorry I couldn't join your boot camp today. Please keep motivated as you are, I do believe you can reach your goal of loosing 5 kg. I know how hard it is, especially first week or 2 but it only gets better and sure you will see awesome results, fingers crossed

1/24/2011 3:57:53 AM

I've been doing soooo much exercise that I have gained weight. The initial gain is muscle growth in my legs and muscle is heavier than fat. I should have remembered that being an ex-fitness trainer, as I have actually lost a belt size which is a better indication. But will keep going as the fat is moving. Today i completed a 16km cycle at the gym.

Thanks Stephie & Siska for the encouragement. Diet tips include a lot of cereal, fruit & yogurt and reducing the volume of each meal. So where I'd normally scoff down two (2) sandwiches/wraps for lunch, I now have one (1). Also reduced some of the fat/sugar I was taking in ie no chocolate, no banana bread (more like a cake), no soda. Also make sure you still have a few meals per week that you enjoy otherwise you go nuts. :)

1/25/2011 3:48:34 AM

Today a complete rest day. It was an extremely busy day at work, which was good. Tomorrow is Australia Day, so I'll be at the beach nice and early and pretty active throughout the day.

1/25/2011 9:26:33 PM

Wow!  I'm just getting caught up with your progress...and what progress you've made!  Holy cats...you're doing great!!  Definitely inspirational.  I thought I was movin' and shakin', but I look like a slug next to you :)  Keep it up...we're almost there!!

1/26/2011 2:45:13 AM

So a great day to day. A bit of beach activity celebrating Australia Day followed by another walk and pretty good diet today. Looking for a couple of big exercise days over the next few days. Thanks Sassy for the encouragement, you've been going well too. Key is for us all to keep moving throughout Feb and the rest of the year. Onward!

1/26/2011 3:23:30 AM

New Day = New achievement, again thank you for pushing me today, I can hardy move after our work out

Thank you Greggy

1/27/2011 2:47:50 AM

Hi Siska, you're welcome. You need to create some goals in MLL too so I can follow.

Today was the biggest walk I have done in last 3 weeks. 8.46km (5.25miles) and my diet was good. I can now say i am officially addicted and look forward to fitting in my exercise each day plus eating right. I still have pounds to shed, but very happy with my progress.

1/27/2011 4:17:34 AM

Yeah Greg, I need to set some goals of mine... still work in progress

I should have a day off tomorrow as today was the hardest work out so far and I am so exhusted LOL not sure how will I get up for tomorrow work, glad it is friday. I wish I could say thank you today LOL

1/27/2011 5:34:19 AM

Greggy, Great job mate. It is hard to believe but the 21-Day's is pretty cool. It does become habit and you do miss it. Siska, you have been so supportive and Greg is right you need to set some cool goals for yourself. Greggy if you don't have plans why not take Siska to Manly on the weekend. A nice walk and picnic overlooking the harbor is pretty cool. You can then compare things on your life List:) YOu don't have to do whole Manly to Spit. Just go half way ad come back. About 1 :10 Minutes, Just a little change of pace.

1/28/2011 3:29:54 AM

Hey thanks Bill. Pretty motivated at the moment and the health is making everything else seem easy. I think we'll do the manly walk for sure and report back here. Siska will update her profile soon too, got her hooked :)

No exercise today for me, but a good rest for a busy weekend ahead. Over the last 2 1/2 weeks my diet has been really good which is helping a lot.

1/28/2011 11:08:12 PM

Even managed to squeeze in a 7km walk on my birthday !

1/30/2011 3:49:42 AM

Wow, managed to begin running today and did my best time around my 7km (4.35miles) course. I am officially addicted, mildly obsessed and look forward to my walk/run every day now. I must say that its true; do something repeatedly for 21 days and you form a habit. With one day to go for the 21 day challenge I look forward to my weigh in. Not sure I have lost 5kg (11lbs), but by setting my goal high it has made me get my butt into gear. I definitely feel 100% healthier, my body shape has changed, i've gone down a belt buckle size, my eating habits are much better and I am also really motivated as the natural energy i get from the walk each day makes me strive forward.

I have 2 weeks of travel coming up and I always find this the hardest to exercise. Firstly I'll be in Wellington then Los Angeles. Sorry MLL, not going to get to the Ball. I really wanted to but unable to fit it in. Next year!

For me this challenge does not end tomorrow. I plan to push through Feb and get my target weight to 90kg (198lbs), then I would like to strive for my goal of 85kg (187lbs). I think this weight is good for me.

Onward!

1/30/2011 4:16:28 AM

Greggy, First off Happy B-Day. Secondly well done and congrats on your achievement. I may need a California address to send along your winnings:) Seriously your results are fantastic and truly reflect the power of the 21-day Challenge. We may incorporate an ongong feature on the site for people who want to create a Habit they can trigger the Challenge and engage other members to support them. All of the members that fully committed to the challenge and engaged people to support them have accomplished their goal or got very close. This is outstanding results and shows the effectiveness of social networking to help people accomplish their goals. Wish I was in LA while you are there, would be good to catch up. Until next time. Bill

1/30/2011 4:16:38 AM

Greggy I have to admit that you got me hooked on exercise as well, cannot have a day without some form of excercise... weights, run, cross trainer or walk. Also it is getting harder as starting to miss my daily chocolate or cookie fix LOL

Glad we support each other through this time LOL we will look like skinny dips afterwards :)

1/31/2011 5:47:39 AM

Last workout for the 21day challenge. Got another 7pm walk in. I also weighed in at 93kg - so lost 2kg so far. As mentioned above will keep going through Feb until I reach 90kg, then I plan to head towards the 85kg mark.

1/31/2011 5:56:07 AM

Congrats to completion of your 21 day challenge. I know you only lost 2kg, but importantly your body shape already changed, slimmed down. I'm very proud of you, let's keep going through Feb, March, April ...... LOL

1/31/2011 10:12:40 PM

Squeezed in a 7km run/walk in the middle of the day - Sydney 41 (106) degrees today, so it was hot! Now focussing on 21 day challenge - part 2 :)

2/4/2011 2:54:52 PM

I completed my best week of walking this week. 35.2km. Pretty happy with that as the 21 day challenge is complete and I'm still going. Plus I traveled for business for 2 days midweek to New Zealand and still got some exercise in. Next week I'm in LA. Busy week of meetings so it'll be interesting how my fitness goes.

2/13/2011 11:20:14 AM

So after a week of meetings all over LA I can report I did manage to get 4 workouts squeezed in. 3 x 1hr  walks and a quick 20min cycle. I am pleased with this as normally I would only eat and drink while I'm here.

Back to Sydney - where I'll get stuck into my botanical garden/opera house walks again. I miss those walks.

3/11/2011 5:19:16 AM

Hello Greg, I'm a little late to the party on your page here, but I wanted to check in with you to see how you're doing with this goal.  Now that the contest has closed, have you kept up with your activity routine?  Let us know how it's going and what you're doing that's working for you now.

3/16/2011 8:18:44 PM

Hi Andrea, thanks for the message :) Good news is I have kept the weight off that I lost in Jan. I haven't reached my target weight, but I'm still exercising and eating pretty well. However I've been so busy with the two businesses I'm running that I haven't been able to do double daily workouts though ! :)

I need to kick start the routine a bit again. You can see from my public profile on runkeeper how much I did in Jan compared with the last 6 weeks. http://runkeeper.com/user/greggy/fitnessReports

Runkeeper is a great program if you have an iPhone or smartphone. Sometimes it doesn't work, but mostly I just turn it on, do my walk and it records through GPS where I went and updates to runkeeper.com ... so if you haven't tried it give it a go :)

How are you doing? How are your goals? Glad to see Bill got the $50k boost the other day :)

Hey Greg.  That is an awesome tool!  I'm signing up for sure... once I have a smartphone/iPhone, that is.  I use this one to track my monthly activity but I love the visual on yours.  http://www.mapmyfitness.com

Great news that you've kept on track, especially since you've been so busy.  As for me, since Jan, my time at the gym has not been as regular so I suffer from a similar situation.  I saw great success with the whole accountability facet coming into play here. I think Bill needs to run that contest more often to give me the nudge I need to stay focused.  I'm ecstatic about Bill and Shea scooping that prize - they so deserve it.  Keep up the great work and keep us posted.

3/17/2011 1:34:46 PM

Yes it is a wicked app Andrea. I was just looking at my trends and over the last 3 months for some reason I haven't worked out on the 3rd, 6th, 14th, 17th & 28th ..... maybe I'll aim to get a workout in on those days :)

Mapmyfitness looks good too. Either way they definietly help.

I think a mid year challenge would be good .... a "Mid Year Madness Challenge" perhaps :) ... similar theme to the 21 day challenge to help us form habbits, achieve & interact with other members. Accountability definetely helped me lose weight back in Jan. With the Madness Challenge .... it would be madness to put us through the pain again LOL

3/17/2011 2:38:29 PM

lol.  You're making me laugh.  Great plan.  Have you sent a nudge to Bill about the 'Mid Year Madness' Challenge??  I Love It!  Nothing beats accountability.  Thank you so much for your kind comments.  Hope you'll keep us posted on your progress.  I'm headed to the gym myself tonight.  Cheers.

11/16/2011 6:08:24 PM
