Keep a journal for my children 21 Day 2012
Relationships: Family

Why do you want to do this?

I cherish what little things my Grandmother wrote down before she died. She didn't write much at all. Maybe on the inside cover of a phone book she'd write down all of the birthdays of the family members. Another example is writing down what she wore to her wedding on a grocery store receipt. The majority of her writing is found on the back of pictures. She would write down the names of the individuals and then later she'd change her mind and scratch through and rewrite again. I wish she wrote more about what it was like growing up in 1920's Louisville, traveling to Kansas City or being the 2nd wife of an Italian immigrant.

What three things will you need to make this happen?

Commitment.

Pen

Paper

What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?

Making the time.

Last night I found a nice journal book I have never used before.  I didn't write a whole lot but I did write about how 9 years ago yesterday my Grandma had died and how I still missed her. I also wrote about how we FINALLY got the first snow of the winter season.

I wasn't sure how old my audience was.  Is this for my children when they are 9, 19, 29 and 39?...   So, I just wrote what I felt like.

Last night I wrote about what happened at home in our house.  I was sad about how my 3 year old treated my husband.  Granted, she's only 3 but she told him she didn't like him.  He was crushed.  It made me sad.  Of course, kids are kids and will say and do mean things to get their way.  Anyway, I wrote about that.

Yesterday I wrote about how sweet it was when LAST night my daughter "fixed" her naughty action to her daddy the mitt before by playing dominos with him. Little things like that put a smile on my face.

Kids ... they have the power to break your heart, then melt your heart, all in the span of 24 hours.  Glad to see you're still going strong with this habit.
