Why do you want to do this?

I love to read and I read a novel 2 years ago set in Istanbul and instantly fell in love with the place. It seems like magic snakes through the avenues and I wish to share in that escapade

What three things will you need to make this happen?

I will need to convince my wife. She is wonderful but can be a bit tedious at times

Bravery

Money of course, though I am not sure how much yet, but I figure for 10 days, 2 people, it will be at least $8,000 US.

What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?

Myself. I simply have to get my head around the idea that this is not a "dream" it is merely the next step. Once I see that all the necessary features will fall into place

My advice is to just start putting some money towards it. Buy a plane ticket or reserve a hotel. Once the first step has been realized, the trip will become real and you can start implementing it in ernest.

 DB has great advice and I totally agree.  Whenever I'm hoping to go on an adventure, I research the best time of year to go, and book the plane tickets right off.  That way I know I'm locked in because we all know that there is no way the airline is going to refund that money, and I'm not going to take a huge monetary hit by bailing.  I have heard wonderful things about Turkey.  It's on my ever-expanding list of places to go.  So please write after you've gone and give us the down-low on everything.
