What a beautiful turn of phrase, "give them their flowers while they live." As a parent myself, I know what a thankless job it can be, so your goal is especially thoughtful. And also, as someone who lost a parent in my early years, I think it's so important to share every moment we can. I love that you're doing it all now while you have the chance. Nice work!

Before I got married, and soon after I graduated, I wrote my folks a very thoughtful letter.  I expressed my love and gratitude to them for everything they had done.  I also took the opportunity to pay for a few things that my folks had purchased for me that I told them, in the beginning, that I had every intention to pay them back (computer, scanner, printer, and a vacation that they had paid for).  Seemed like a small gesture but it showed that I stood by my word, even to them when it didn't really matter.
