Loose 10 kgs
Lifestyle & Fitness: Health

Why do you want to do this?

After the twin pregnancy i have put on 10 kgs. For which i have been struggling. I want to reduce weight to be more active and to look and feel good.

What three things will you need to make this happen?

Follow a good diet plan. Eat smaller meals and lots of water. No tea and Coffee.

Try to do some exercise. Or at least some sort of walking.

Follow healthy sleeping habits.

What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?

No time. Being a working mom, no time at all. Hence it should be squeezed into the daily routine.

Double blessings for you too?  Congratulations - both for having your twins and for putting this goal up to lose the pregnancy weight.  It sounds like you've worked out a good healthful plan.  I'm curious about your elimination of tea/coffee.  Have you found that to affect your weight?

I have fraternal twin boys who are six now.  How old are yours?  Identical or fraternal, boys or girls?

Hi.. I have fraternal twins too.. and boys of 15 months old..! It is so tough to manage them at this age.. right..??

For me leaving Tea and Coffee is working fine.. I am avoiding extra sugar which I use to take..! But I’m finding it very difficult to find time for exercise..! Suggest me something which I can do diet wise to start losing weight..!

Oh 15 months, such a great age - are they both walking already?  If the both are, they must be running you off your feet.  I remember those days.  Yes, it's totally tough to handle life with not one, but two toddlers who have their own little ideas and personalities developing.  Are yours similar in nature?  Mine are totally opposite in that regard.  Amazing considering they were born just two minutes apart.  No wonder you're finding it difficult to find time for exercise.  I remember just being so exhausted at the end of the day that I barely had enough energy for a shower to get food from snacktime out of my hair.  Are your twins both sleeping all night long regularly?

Regarding the suggestions to help you start losing weight...you seem to have a good plan started already.  Are you getting enough water each day?  Staying well-hydrated will help your body in so many ways.  Simple things like closing the kitchen after dinner (as in no snacking before bedtime) and choosing more fresh fruits, vegetables and protein as opposed to starchy foods might make a difference too. Our cultures may be quite different as we're in different parts of the globe and enjoy completely different climates.  Our daily dietary food in general may be very dissimilar, but I have a couple of friends who significantly cut down on their daily rice and lost twenty pounds in four months just by making that one change.  The other thing that has been very helpful for me so far is to avoid the extremes of 'starving' and 'stuffed'.  As in, eat something small and healthful every couple of hours to avoid being hungry and to keep your energy level up and your metabolism gearded up all day. On the other hand, I've found that being very mindful of how I'm feeling as I am enjoying a meal or a snack makes a difference too ... never letting the tank get 'full' but just eating enough to be 'satisfied.'  Hope these tips help.  Let me know your thoughts.  Can you push the twins in a stroller to get a walk in as some form of exercise?

Yes they are walking..! and thats where the major pain is..! they walk whole day and then in the night they cry with the leg pain..!:) Silly..! They are still not sleeping through the night..! atleast twice they get up at different time..! Hence no sleep for me..!

I'm trying to be hydrated now.. trying to drink as much as possible..! Also i work for IT Industry..! so i have a sitting job through the day..! so now i am trying to walk as much as possible..! Also i am taking smaller meals so that my metabolism is working..! I have cut down on my rice intake but still old habits like "tank full" will probably take more time to go..! By the time i reach home its kind of late.. so onlly during saturdays & Sundays i can do this.. but not on week days..:( But somehow i have to get the routine..! So far the efforts are showing up..! :) That make me feel good...!

So how are you managing your kids? do you have any help at home..!?

Such a fun age, but sometimes, no fun for mom.  Those sleepless nights can be a real killer.  I remember feeling like a zombie.  Thankfully, we took a lot of pictures and video because I don't think I had much joy at the time, yet they were so sweet and cute when I watch the video that it brings tears to my eyes.   I hope you have a camera handy too.  You will appreciate it later on for sure.  When it was really rough, I'd repeat to myself ...'this is temporary, it will pass.'  It passes so quickly, I swear it.  It really does get better.

Do you have some support at home?  A caregiver to look after them so you can get a nap if you need to?  Is your partner involved in their care to give you a break when you need it?  To answer your question, I'm managing fine these days as my twins will start school full-time in September (they are 6) and my middle child is 8 and my oldest is 9.  Yes, we had four in diapers at one time - 32 a day!  I am soooo thankful every single day that those times are behind us.  I didn't have help at all with my first two who were just 17 months apart in age, but when the twins came along, it was either hire some help or have a mom committed to an institution and no good to anyone in the family.  Hubby's a gem and we were able to have full-time help for three years (until my older two were both in school full-time).  Our nanny lived with us until just before the twins turned three.  She was an invaluable partner through those challenging times and and wonderful presence in our home. We are very close to this day.

I'm so happy to read that you're making progress with your goal here too and that you're feeling good about it.  That's awesome.  Keep up the great work.

Orchid, are you still working on this goal like the rest of us? I wanted to let you know, it's a new year and there's plenty of focus on fitness here that can get you moving if you lost track. The 21-Day Challenge starts Jan. 10, a contest that helps you create the daily habits you need to make long-term positive change. I'm so looking forward to it! I have more pounds to go, but I find I'm looking more at making my life healthier and learning from others here who have had success. Hope you'll come back and let us know about your progress! Happy New Year!
