This is awesome.  It takes a special kind of person to be able to do this kind of work, but it's so necessary.  People with these kinds of challenges and often, the elderly too, are easily forgotten or excluded some of the time or much of the time by their family members.  It's so amazing that you want to make a difference in this way and that you believe it to be your life's calling.  If you really feel this is your passion, and you want to dedicate your career to brigtening the lives of people with disabilities, I have no doubt you'll feel rewarded and fulfilled and bring joy to so many.  Wishing you all the very best.  

go for it!  I am a speech language pathologist. I work with kids with learning disabilities.....I consider it more of a calling than a career.  You are being called in some way.
