Career & Finance: Employment
Why do you want to do this?
I find Psychology interesting, and though I'm not passionate about anything, this is the closest I come. I find Neuropsych really really cool, and (I think) want to have a career in it.
What three things will you need to make this happen?
Increase my confidence so I'm able to look people in the eye.
Interview people in different positions: private practice, hospitals, researchers. To find out exactly what they do, what they were expecting, and disadvantages and advantages of going into the field.
Get a research position in a lab so I have some experience, networking, and ultimately, applying for grad school.
What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?
Talking to people! What do I say? Why would they even want to talk to me? What do they benefit from speaking to me? What if I turn out to be so ridiculously stupid that I don't succeed?
It's all in my mind. I've really got to suck it up and dive forward. It terrifies me.
