Start Blogging Wine & Food (again)
Lifestyle & Fitness: Writing

This is truly a passion of mine. I started this blog a couple of years ago and was completely into it at the beginning. Last year, I dropped off a bit. Now, my plan is just twice a month and I know I can keep up with that. I enjoy cooking. I enjoy drinking wine. I'm not looking to make any money, I just want to share my personal experiences through this blog. Maybe give everyone some good recommendations. (Please feel free to follow me - http://zinfulwineandfood.blogspot.com/

Why were you inspired to do this?

I enjoy Wine. I enjoy Food. I enjoy sharing my love for it with everyone. Also, it helps me to journal for my own personal use so I have a place to go back to when I remember "that really good Malbec we had with the steak and chimichurri sauce". Or, something like that. If anyone's interested in reading up on my old stuff... http://zinfulwineandfood.blogspot.com/ I will continue on the same blog.

What were 3 things you did to make this happen?

Wine

Delicious Meals / Recipes

Perfect Pairings

How did you feel once you had accomplished this?

As usual, time is a factor. But, I need to make more time to do the things I enjoy.

So, maybe haven't been doing it weekly, but I'm getting going.  A local adult school is having a one night course, So, you want to blog food & wine?  Seems perfect for me, so I signed up.  Class isn't until the end of October, but I'm pumped.

Took the class last night.  Really, it was a panel discussion among about 6 or so food & wine bloggers.

One thing I learned at this point - I certainly won't make money at it, and should to conitnue to focus on just doing it for fun.  But, got a few ideas on how to (hopefully) make it more interesting.  Then, we'll see how it goes from there...

I do need to set aside more time for it, but...

Zinful - congratulations on your blog...and following the food and wine passion! I, too, have  great love for food and wine....together/apart...lol! That is great about the one night class...always great to get some tips. The Cookbook Store (here in Toronto) has a number of guest lecturers, and in the coming weeks they will be having Clotilde Dusoulier....food blogger of Chocolate & zucchini. I love this blog, and I am looking forward to hearing what they have to share and say about their experiences.

To keep your blogging up, be sure to follow your passions, and share your results...the good, the bad and the ugly. And be sure to book some time in your calendar each week, so that you can share.  wishing you happy blogging!

I'd like to make some sort of schedule for this.  I'm thinking just once or twice a month.  So many other things going on in life, that while this is a passion of mine, maybe it's not as much of a priority as other things are.  I think if I said "weekly", I won't be able to keep up with it, but if my goal is biweekly or monthly, it'll be a goal more reasonably attained.

loking forward to it! do it when you feel inspired and what to share...it does not have to be long...just share with us your experiences, suggestions, challenges.

Over the holidays, we did a blind wine tasting with the family...I made up sheets where folks had to determine what type of grape/wine, what flavour palate and which country it was from. was so much fun...and something that I think that we will do again.

For the past couple of years, we've actually hosted a wine vs. beer and cheese tasting at my house.  Similar thing, everyone rates the wine and decide which was the better pairing.  We also did something like if was a french cheese, to get a french wine (can't do the same for Wisconsin), but we did well - always a good time.

My plan is to post something this weekend.  We'll see how it works out.

Yea, twice in one month...   (and, yea, Carly owns a vineyard, I have another bottle from Standing Sun, which is a Syrah).  This blog is about a different Shiraz, though...

yum...that wine sounded wonderful...though I would have to agree that it would probably be better suited with a steak. Do you normally decant your wines, especially the older ones? I have a couple of bottles from early 2000's and am excited and aprehensive about opening them...discovered them while de-junking my liquor cabinet. They have been lying on their side...and have been rotated sporatically over the yrs. Im learning...so suggestions are appreciated :)

That probably would've helped.  And, I expect to actually find different flavors in it tonight.  Unfortunately, it was a last minute opening decision.

We had a zinfandel a couple of weeks ago that was a homemade wine from a coworker of my husband's and the first thing he said was that it had to be decanted.  I'm glad we did.  I think I poured it into the decanter about 9 or 10 a.m. and we had it with pepper steak that night.  The combo was phenomenal (just never got around to blogging it, and didn't take notes, so I won't be able to, now).
