Why were you inspired to do this?
I always wanted to live, study and work abroad. To open my horizons and challenge myself far from the protection of family and relatives. I also wanted to study in North America as a first step in my "international" career.
What were 3 things you did to make this happen?
Study hard in my undergrad, not only course materials but in general about economy, politics and business.
Finished my military oblications back in Greece. I did not want anything to keep me from persuing my career.
For the latter although I did not succeed 100% and I m thankful of that, I believed that I should not invest in any relationships as I wanted to live abroad.
How did you feel once you had accomplished this?
While I am writing this I am loosing valuable time from my two final exams during my first semester. I feel like three days have passed from the moment I came in Vancouver, Canada.
It is a strange feeling. Technology has minimize barriers I can see, speak and listen to most of my friends and family.
I can see what they are doing, photos of them or even to learn from miles away if they found a new "significant other" through facebook.
It is not as I thought I would fill when I left Greece.
Additional notes and tips:
I really miss Greek food, music, wine, culture but back there they have difficult times. I fill very thankful and lucky.
Last but not least, if it wasn't for my scholarship I could not achieve any of those. Thanks to "Alexander S. Onassis Foundation" I could make it. I hope I hope to become another success case of their shcolars. Lastly, I also hope not to dissapoint my family or the foundation's committee investing in my future and believing in me.
