    Is this Story Inappropriate?

Play great April 12th concert
Personal Development & Community

Why were you inspired to do this?

1) To rejuvenate my songwriting and performing. 2) To inspire my own sense of fun, accomplishment and creativity. 3) Challenge myself as an artist, writer and performer.

What were 3 things you did to make this happen?

Create a set list of 10 songs. Include at least three new songs, written by me or others. Include a new a capella song.

Send out emails and alerts to local friends and colleagues, to invite them to the concert.

Practice, play guitar and work on material 4-5 days a week, regardless of whether I've got my kids, are with Jim, working, staying fit, etc.

How did you feel once you had accomplished this?

The pure busyiness of life. The desire to "cop out" by reading a book at the end of a busy day, instead picking up the guitar and playing.

Additional notes and tips:

My concert was last Sunday. It was a decent concert, not great, and that's okay.

I've recognized that it's okay that performing publically takes a back seat for a while, as I focus on other things.

I will continue hosting musical get togethers in the Cincinnati area, playing guitar and writng new songs.

Hi Andrea, Would love to hear some of your music. If you have a You Tube Video you can add it to your story but cutting the HTML from YOU Tube and clicking Source in Additional notes and tips. Bill

I ed my set list last Tuesday, which includes three new songs. I am practicing every day, for at least 20  minutes. It feels really good to be playing music again and just just thinking about it. The set will include (and not played in this order mind you):

Grandpa Loves Godzilla by Andrea Dale (me)

Bend, Willow Bend, by David Kisor (new song for me )

Where the Magic is Real by Paul Kwinn

Gold, Silk & Daughters by Andrea Dale

Giant, by Stan Rogers

I am Stardust, by Lloyd Landa

House on the Corner by Andrea Dale (new song)

We Belong Together by Andrea Dale (new song)

Struggling Free by Andrea Dale

Now I am timing each piece, as I practice them, to make sure the set isn't too long. And I am realizing that I am interested in getting out and playing some sets at other venues, in addition to Leo Coffeehouse.

Hmm . . . I just remembered that I'll receive a recording of my set, when it's done. Maybe I'll post a song or two here, at that time. Anyone interested in hearing a few tunes?

I am so interested in hearing a few songs. I'm a massive Stan & Garnet Rogers fan and I so want to hear you play! Bill

Wow, another Stan Rogers fan . .. Couldn't be because of all the maritime songs, could it?

I cover the songs Lies, Giant, and Field Behind The Plow.  I'd like to cover Lies on my next CD, in fact.

How and where, did you learn about Stan and Garnet Rogers?

I have several Canadian friends who are folk musicans (and I am very much a midwest, outdoor person), so that's how I learned about them.
